OBAMA NAILS IT ON FATHERS DAY

One other very good point that was missed was Obama's assertion the responsiblities of Fatherhood do not end at conception.

The right-to-life folks have been quick to jump on that in the past as they should. A Parents responsibilites should continue from conception through birth, and then on to adulthood.

Regardless where one stands on abortion, it's more evidence that for a smart guy, Obama puts darn little thought into issues.

I'm offended when he talks like this. I voted for Obama to be my Senator, not my Fatherhood mentor.

I'm convinced he nails it on Father's day to avoid getting nailed by having to talk about Todd Stroger, Tony Rezko, Ayham Alsammare, Nadhmi Auchi and the other cast of characters that litter Obama's past.

At first during the primaries and election, I thought he talked like this for white audiences, but he just keeps on going with it and I'm convinced know, knowing all of his past, it's just a dodge to avoid topics where he has responsiblitiy as a our representative; not as Fatherhood mentor.

Well said Bill. But as long as the press isn't asking him questions about those associations, why should he?

BLOG SERIES ON "WHAT AILS CONSERVATISM?" STARTS TOMORROW

I don't know how much of a pickle Conservatism can be in if Democrats are picking up these house wins as anti-abortion and blue-dogs.

If they were running as Social Democrats I might feel different.

Conservatism may be fine. Some of the Pols who relied on conservative voters may be in a bind....

FLIRTING WITH OBAMANIA

If it were just the Obama we see in debates, and the Obama we read, you would make sense.

But the real Obama I fear is the Obama hooked into some of the worst of Illinois politics.

That Obama isn't fully fleshed out yet, but he's coming and he'll make the issues irrelevant when we finally see the man. Madigan wasn't kidding when he called Obama Messiah. It's just Obama incarnate is going to look ward-heeler; not savior-healer.

KILL THE MESSENGER! OR IS THE MESSAGE ALREADY DEAD?

The message needs to be rethought for Conservatives and Liberals alike for sure.

The GOP better at that than the Dems and one just need to look at the diversity of thought in the GOP debates (especially with Paul there) vs the Dems. The GOP hashes out principles for new times; the Dems triangulate the differences.

My money is with the GOP this time.

POLLSTERS FINALLY STARTING TO ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS ON IRAQ

I agree with most of this. I'm not as pessimistic about today in part because I'm surprized Iraq didn't come apart sooner. I'm surprized at the restraint by the Shi'ia and Sistani. I think that bodes well for tomorrow.

The Republican lead Congress really dropped the ball the most for us. There were plenty of post war plans, and a Republican Congress really should have called Bremer and the Generals, and others into hearings to ask why such-and-such plan was picked.

I remember Biden expressing reservations pre-War that Bush was not preparing the country for the experience of the long slog that the post-war experience was going to be in Iraq. Biden didn't think the country up for it.

I thought Biden right then, although dismayed he decided to jump ship from a war he supported. I think the American people, as these polls show, still committed to the principles. They deserved better from Congress though.

BLOG STRIKE. MASSIVE DAMAGE. NEWS AT 11:00

Faked pics and then some one at Rueters sending LGF this,

A Reuters employee has been suspended after sending a death threat to an American blogger.

The message, sent from a Reuters internet account, read: "I look forward to the day when you pigs get your throats cut."

It was sent to Charles Johnson, owner of the Little Green Footballs (LGF) weblog, a popular site which often backs Israel and highlights jihadist terrorist activities.

In the threat, the Reuters staff member, who has not been named, left his email address as "zionistpig" at hotmail.com.

Reporting the message to his readers, Johnson wrote on his website: "This particular death threat is a bit different from the run of the mill hate mail we get around here, because an IP lookup on the sender reveals that he/she/it was using an account at none other than Reuters News."

ANTI-SEMITISM ON THE LEFT

Anti Semitism used to mean a world without Jews. Now it means a world without a Jewish State. The outcome is pretty much the same either way.

Things said about Jews now on the left are startling. You see it with anonymous comments on the blogs. Kos very typical. Nick Cohen wrote an interesting column about his experience.

On the Saturday of the great anti-war demonstration of 2003, I watched one million people march through London, then sat down to write for the Observer. I pointed out that the march organisers represented a merger of far left and far right: Islamic fundamentalists shoulder to shoulder with George Galloway, the Socialist Workers Party and every other creepy admirer of totalitarianism this side of North Korea. Be careful, I said. Saddam Hussein’s Iraq has spewed out predatory armies and corpses for decades. If you’re going to advocate a policy that would keep a fascist dictator in power, you should at least talk to his victims, whose number included socialists, communists and liberals - good people, rather like you.

Next day I looked at my e-mails. There were rather a lot of them. The first was a fan letter from Ann Leslie, the Daily Mail’s chief foreign correspondent, who had seen the barbarism of Ba’athism close up. Her cheery note ended with a warning: “You’re not going to believe the anti-Semitism that is about to hit you.” “Don’t be silly, Ann,” I replied. “There’s no racism on the left.” I worked my way through the rest of the e-mails. I couldn’t believe the anti-Semitism that hit me.

WHAT WILL THE US DO WITHOUT TONY BLAIR?

History will see Blair as the hero at the start of this century. I tell Liberal friends who can't understand why I support Bush to just read Blair's speeches.

THE MYTH OF INCOMPETENCE

I agree with you. I think you're right. But it's a long road ahead of us before we get to History's judgement. It's not going to be easy.
